160GB Hybrid Hard Disk Drive (5400)
160GB SATA Hard Disk Drive (5400)
200GB SATA Hard Disk Drive (7200 rpm)

I have heard mixed reactions from the Hybrid drive....however...knowing that more idle time and allowing the flash to do some of the grunt work when the HD doesn't need to spin is suppose to increase reliability and longevity of the HD.

I also heard the difference between 7200 and 5400 is arguable.

Opinions? Anyone have a Hybrid drive?

you'll need vista to fully appreciate the hybrid drive

otherwise it'll be a normal hard drive

I have a hybrid HDD as well and it is noticeably quicker than a normal HDD. As stated above, it integrates well with Vista's functionality of cache effects and loading programs you use more often, quicker. Boot times for me are typically under 30 seconds and shut down is 10-15 seconds.

I have an SZ650 with a 160GB hybrid HDD, 5400RPM, and I think there is like, 256MB memory of flash built in.

    30% slower.

If you want a fast 5400RPM hard drive, get the 320GB WD. It ~same as the 7K200 7200RPM Hitachi 200GB

Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive
