160GB Hybrid Hard Disk Drive (5400)
160GB SATA Hard Disk Drive (5400)
200GB SATA Hard Disk Drive (7200 rpm)
I have heard mixed reactions from the Hybrid drive....however...knowing that more idle time and allowing the flash to do some of the grunt work when the HD doesn't need to spin is suppose to increase reliability and longevity of the HD.
I also heard the difference between 7200 and 5400 is arguable.
Opinions? Anyone have a Hybrid drive?

Who here has a Hybrid HD?
-
I have SZ650 with a hybrid HD. I haven't had any type of problems with it.

you'll need vista to fully appreciate the hybrid drive
otherwise it'll be a normal hard drive -
how much flash do you have on it? 256 right?
also what kind of work do you do on your vaio? -
is the 256 hybrid part of the hd upgradable?
-
yes it is.

I have a hybrid HDD as well and it is noticeably quicker than a normal HDD. As stated above, it integrates well with Vista's functionality of cache effects and loading programs you use more often, quicker. Boot times for me are typically under 30 seconds and shut down is 10-15 seconds.

what notebook do you have? what rpm is the drive? how big is the drive and how much flash do you have on the hd vaio2k7?

so honestly, how would the 160g hybrid 5400 fair vs 7200rpm 200g?
i've hear mixed results from the hybrid drives from my research on the net... -
30% slower.
If you want a fast 5400RPM hard drive, get the 320GB WD. It ~same as the 7K200 7200RPM Hitachi 200GB
Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive
Which hard drive?
