    Which is the better deal:

The primary uses of the laptop are:

    1. Photo-editing using photoshoop CS4 and Lightroom Room 2
    2. Watching Blu Ray Movies while on the road and traveling
    3. Internet surfing

    FW specs: --------------------------------------------------------------------AW specs:

Price $1,214.99 with taxes----------------------------------------------------------$1,777.67 with taxes

    Processor P8600 2.4 Ghz 3 Mb -----------------------------------------------------------T9400 2.53 Ghz 6 GB

    RAM 4 GB---------------------------------------------------------------------------4 GB

Hard Drive 250 GB 5400 RPM --------------------------------------------------------------320 GB 7200 RPM

    Screen X-Brite - Eco-------------------------------------------------------------------X-Brite Full HD with
    16.4 inch-----------------------------------------------------------------------Adobe RGB Color Mgmt
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------18.4 inch

Video card ATI Radeon 3650----------------------------------------------------------------NVidia Geforce 9600M
    with 512 MB---------------------------------------------------------------------with 512 MB

Optical Blu Ray Drive (read only)---------------------------------------------------------Blu Ray Drive (read only)

    TV tuner No-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Yes

Audio Dolby Sound Room---------------------------------------------------------------Intel High Definition
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Audio with Dolby Digital
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Live

Card Reader 1 Memory Stick------------------------------------------------------------------1 Compact Flash
1 Express Card slot--------------------------------------------------------------1 Memory Stick Pro
1 SD card slot-------------------------------------------------------------------1 Express Card slot

    Battery Standard-----------------------------------------------------------------------Large Capacity

    Weight 6.25 lbs------------------------------------------------------------------------8.5 lbs

So the question is: Is the LED Backlit color managed screen and the upgraded processor (from P8600 vs T9400) worth $560.00?

Would the T9400 processor make much difference when using photoshop and Lightroom?

Finally, how big of a battery life hit will I take for the 18.4 screen vs 16.4, the T9400 vs P8600 processor, NVIDIA 9600m VS ATI 3650 and 7200 vs 5400 RPM hard drive.?

The thing I liked the most about the FW is how light it was for a 16.4 inch model and I really liked the looks of the aluminum case with the black keys. The AW is not bad looking , just much larger.

I suppose its best if you look at the two in a shop.
They will both have enough calculating power for your needs.

    The question is:
How much better is the Adobe RGB screen.
Look at both of them in a Sony Centre and decide there.

I agree with DetlevCM - the quality of the screen should be the all important factor for you.

xbrite eco is not suitable for photo editing, it's single lamp and has uneven backlight. in my opinion it's good for everything except photo editing.

if you want FW go for xbrite highcolor dual lamp.
