    HI,
I am looking to buy a laptop from Sony since i am a Sony fan and i have tried and seen some laptops that i like.

I just want to use the laptop for little internet surfing, Typing using Word office, excel, power point, etc. might need a DVD burner to some times do back ups of my hard drive with a dvd -rw, little gaming on my free time, and a little movie watching on long bus trips. Sizing of laptop doesn't matter but preferably around 15.1" or lower, and price range up to $2,000.

So basically a general Laptop i could say ....

    thanks,
    Chris

sony sz would be perfect for you and more - roughly 1700 on ebay for the sony sz650, around 3.9 pounds, you can turn off the graphics and have a battery life of around 4 hours - over 6 hours with the extended battery (but that costs a bit)

i personally love mine and have been through 4 laptops in the past 4 months, finally got a keeper!

the specs for the sony sz650 (the best combination of specs for the money for the sz) are:

13.3" WXGA screen with LED backlighting
    carbon fiber case
    160gb with 256mb flash ram
    2Gb ram
    8400M GS / x3100 hybrid graphics
    dvd burner
    t7500 2.2ghz 800mhz fsb

I love my SZ330P that I had for about one year, but I liked it so much and saw the FZ180E with the Blue ray player and burner for $1500 so I bought that 1 month ago. I love both of them the SZ330P is my road hog I take it everywere I go since it only wights 4lbs and the FZ180E is my entertainment laptop with the blue ray player.
