    Hi guys

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

I'm stuck in between these 2 laptops Sony Vaio VGN-FS315M and a Acer Aspire 1692WLMi

I can get the Sony for £799 and the Acer for £699

The specs for the sony VGN-FS315M:
    Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 533 MHz FSB, Supports Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology
    Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
15.4" X-black LCD with double lamp technology
    1280 x 800
512 MB RAM Memory Speed (MHz)
    400.0
    DDR2-400 SDRAM (PC2-3200) (1x512MB)
    80GB HD
    Double layer DVD±RW drive
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 6400 with TurboCache™ supporting 128MB
    Wireless LAN Type 802.11b/g

The Specs for the Acer Aspire 1692:
    Intel Pentium-M 740 Processor 1.73GHz
    1GB DDR SDRAM
    Memory type
    PC-4200, 533MHz
    80GB Hard Drive
    DVD Dual Layer Drive
    15.4" XGA Widescreen TFT Screen
ATI Mobility X700 64MB dedicated graphics
    Integrated wireless 802.11b/g
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded

It'll mainly be used for uni work with the odd game, latest game i have is GTA SA and NFS Most Wanted and some video editing.

I've heard some issues with Acer build quality but I have also heard good things about them too, Though on some of the Sony Vaio's i've seen the screen's are superb compared to anything else on the market.

    Any help appreciated.

Acer's built quality is compareable to the Dells but don't expect the screen to be anything spectacular. Definitely nothing (and by nothing, I mean half as bright..) compared to the XBrite screen of the FS. The X700 should be tons better for games though. Would you want to have a brighter screen or play the most recent at a higher framerate? It's your choice really.
