not a fan of the Vaio EE series.

Lenovo is only good for their thinkpad series... i'd stay away from their Ideapads and Thinkpad Edges (<-- those aren't true thinkpads).
The Vaio SB... well, it's the best IMHO.

Personally, i got a Vaio Z (in my Sig) and i'm a CS major, All i do is use an external monitor when i have to program alot. In any case, it's light and will be easy to carry around. But I read around on these forums... apparantly the SB has some build issues (but some people want to compare it to the Z which is about double the price)

I pretty much agree with the above, especially regarding Lenovo and EE.
However SB seems to have serious quality issues - could be just the first badge... hopefully they will take care of that.

Comparison with Z is not really reasonable. Although Z has some typical bad issues, despite the price. But that's not a subject of this thread.

I would go for the thinkpad edge e420s, although untested, people are starting to receive their first batch by now. The quality should be good, according to the constructions specs

Sony EE serise is designed by OEM with SONY logo on it.

    So, it's just a Acer-like body,materidal, screen, etc + Sony logo
