Which will perform better in games? Z with 9300GS with 2.53GHz or SR with 3470 with 2.8GHz?

    the SR
    but just slightly
the CPU won't help much since games are more GPU intensive

the two are almost identical in performance but it also depends on which model you have, is it the gddr3 or ddr2 version? I'd say that the 3470 has a slight edge in terms of performance though, although not by much.

could anyone with discrete cards report on the battery life?
if it is over 3 hours, im returning my Z for the SR

SR has been reported to get 3:30 with Ati HD3470 on energy saving settings.

As far as I know HD3470 is definitely faster than 9300M in gaming.

now im in doubt between the SR with 2.8Ghz and the Z570

both are basically the same price. which one would you guys go with??
i dont really use external monitors, and i think i can probably hook it up using vga port if i need

In my opinion there is no point in getting a 2.8GHz CPU unless you do some heavy video editing or decoding/encoding jobs.

If you're into gaming the HD3470 is the more sensible choice.

Well, a 2.26ghz 2gb of Ram SR with the ATI vs. a 2.5ghz, 4GB of Ram SR aith ATI recieves a 200 point boost in 3dMark, so im guessing the 2.8ghz proccesor, should recieve a 300-400 point boost in 3dmark over the 2.26 SR. Interestingly, the 128mb GDDR3 ATI 3470 performs similiar or better to the 256mb Geforce 9300. So with a 2.8ghz cpu, the ATI, and 4gigs of ram, that would be the most powerful of the bunch gaming wise. You will prob recieve slightly worse battery life than someone with a 2.26 ghz processor though, i think it's a lower wattage then the 2.8...but i could be wrong.

Eitherway, expect 3 hours or more of battery life.

Well just occasionally ... I'm not sure it's worth it. A 2.8Ghz over 2.53Ghz would finish encoding jobs about 10% faster. So 9 minutes instead of 10 minutes.

But the 2.8GHz is a 35watt TDP CPU that will make things hotter/need more fan activity, while the 2.53 is 25 watt.

the 2.53GHz is a 35watt TDP CPU also... the 2.53GHz in the SR is T9400 not P9500..

how mmuch battery life are you getting from yours tony?
at powersaver mode, cause assuming the 2.8GHz and the 2.53GHz for the SR have the same TDP, i believe they would have about the same battery life, right?

    I think that is correct

Under Power Saver mode i get about a little over 3 hours of battery life.

    i ordered the SR 2.8GHz + ati + 4GB RAM + 200GB 7200 RPM

    ill make a comparison against my Z 2.53GHz + 9300 GS 256mb + 4GB + 200GB 7200 RPM when it arrives..

which is the best benchmark utility i can use?

just another question, would the Z555 perform better than the two above?

considering it has 256mb in a lower res screen?

I think the HD 3470 is still slighty better than the 9300M GS.. I think..

Afaik: In games the HD3470 will perform better.

In 3D mark06 the difference may be really small.

If you want to do some benchmarking I recommend to run in game benchmarks. 3DMark 06 is a synthetic benchmark, limited by nature.
