I just got my SZ450 today and I go to turn it on but all I get is a white screen...I'm kinda worried. I tried reseting, ctrl+alt+del-ing but all I get is a restart and thats it. Anyone know what I can do?
-
Send it back. Sounds a lot like what I've seen whit damaged or badly seated graphics cards..
-
ugh, would it be possible to just have it checked up at a local tech shop?
-
Question: Do you somehow SEE the VAIO startup flash screen and after that, it turns white?
Answer: Probably OS fault or corrupted OS installation.
Possible solution: after turning on the unit press F10 in succession to rebuild OS from original factory software setting
Question: After powering on the unit, you did NOT SEE the vaio logo splash screen and the screen turned white.
Answer: Hardware fault.
Possible solution: Return it back.
Question: Is it new?
Answer: IF yes, you really have to return it back for the warranty. If No, then bring it to your local repair shop. -
yea its hardware. I got it off an eBay retailer, everything is under my name like I just bought it from Sony themselves. I just gave them a call to see if they could just do an exchange for me and I'm just waiting for the manager as of now.

did you buy it new or used on ebay? if it's used and you received a white screen at first boot you may have been scammed.
-
Brand new. I've contacted him and hes willing to do a full exchange through Fedex. Very professional in my opinion cause he could've just left me with a defect. Anyways thanks for the help guys.
If anyone wants to see what hes selling his eBay is Colpic he updates his inventory every so often and hes got really good communication. -
I bought sz450 from colpic too, hum, nothing wrong for now, but start to get worry.
-
I wouldn't worry, if anything messes up I doubt it has to do with him at all. Moreso with Sony etc. This was just a defect in the hardware and defects happen every so often which was why I wasn't too surprised....I have to wait now though
White screen...nothing else
