Oh, I see what you mean. Again, congrats on getting the 30" IPS monitor. I'm looking forward to hearing about you successfully getting it to work in its native resolution with the VAIO Z1 notebook.

    Good luck. :)

I am not quite sure what you mean, the Z2 costs more than that watch and a WQXGA monitor put together. Plus I can sell my current monitor when I receive the WQXGA monitor and get back $400.

I will make the damn thing work one way or another. The plan has always been to get two of them with a ViDock anyway.

Perhaps Sony is having a hard time negotiating with the hip-hop gangsta rappers who are supposed to help market the gold version.

Maybe they couldn't find a gold chain thick enough to hang the gold Z2 around their necks.

I looked at the NEC one if that is what you are talking about. The DELL one is already overkill, right now I have an HDTV as a monitor. Anyway I get what you are talking about.

I would think it could be warn with a very thin chain since it is so thin and light.

1.) what's worse, in terms of manuf, it's mostly on the AT-W polarizer, which is about 5usd worth of a special sheet... but better binning of monitor and target market probably keep it pricey. I'm still miffed over my U2711 not having it :p The purple contrast shift is noticeable as I'm walking to my workstation, and it bugs me a bit. At least there is no color banding on the Windows 7 default background, unlike a few TN panels I have. It's just one of those corner-of-the-eye things that bother me enough to change, for example, my entire workplace layout (desks, chair, all). Anyhow, since I am off topic already.... is there any hope for a different PMD, now? :D

2.) more hip than carrying around a MBA, IMO.

Sorry, got the gold Yachtmaster confused with the Stainless Tag in your other post, lol! Any chance you want to buy my Cartier tank watch? (I prefer collecting computers to watches these days ;)

I got my U3011 today, I really hoped that the Z1 dock would support Dual Link DVI... I can now confirm that it DOES NOT support DL-DVI. I ordered a ViDock 4 Plus and an EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD. With the 570 HD I get 2X DL-DVI one Display Port and a Mini HDMI.

I will have WQXGA if it kills me (and my budget)

    no interest sorry

BACK ON TOPIC: I think the move to WQXGA is going to put me in the Z2 hater club. The Z2 just can't do it, and that is just lame.

Consider a desktop for work at home and just remote in when you need power?

my rig probably twice if not more times more powerful than my Z for half the price (well after all the discounts + free stuff i got it was < $700)

I don't want to build a desktop, I don't want to have to sync all of my stuff and manage another computer, meh. I just want it all in a 3LBS or less package, is that too much to ask? When I dock up I just want to be able to connect to everything, is that too much to ask?

Anyway I am into the ViDock and GeForce card for ~$650... so I've made my choice. The ViDock gives me a couple more USB ports also and I can sure use some more of those.

I wonder... if AMD's HDMI implementation is instead a DP++ link with a physical HDMI port... it would be a theory to test with a much cheaper setup :p

Anyone know how the hinge on the Z2 compares to the Z1? I'm interested in being able to open the laptop to a full 180, or even 360 degrees!

^ Goldentreesang posted a picture of how far the hinge can go on the Z21 in the sony Z speculation thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...-speculation-news-thread-559.html#post7765273
From the picture it look like it can go about 140-145 degree.. I don't have a compass handy :)
It's a bit farther then the Macbook Air, which only goes about 135 degrees, but far short from my SZ280 which can actually hinge past 180 so that the top of the screen almost hits the desk. Anything beyond that would require the screen image to flip, otherwise everything would be upside down!

Thanks! I'm coming from a tablet pc, which I often used to flip the screen around and use as a second monitor, or just use an external mouse/keyboard and set the screen closer to my face.
