First of all we all know Sony has ty customer service. I was wondering if anyone has been able to cancel an order successfully for a customized vaio. I ordered my FW series about 18 hours ago and now I see I could have saved $150 by adding two accessories. Also I will not even be at the place where I had the laptop shipped as I will be at my summer house (they don't change the shipping address even though its same as billing).
So aftering speaking to two indians who couldn't do anything I was directed to another indian supervisor who put in the request to cancel the order. So has anyone had luck with this as the supervisor said it was not even a guarantee?![]()
If the request to cancel does not work, what happens if no one accepts the package do I get a full refund?

All the major companies, including HP and Dell, don't allow you to cancel a custom order once in production. They require you to accept delivery and then process a return.

you can only save $150 by purchasing extra warranty + 2 accessories.

NVM i found out
I wish sony could change shipping addresses/ add promotional offers -
First of all, Sony has a 30-day price match-guarantee so if you tell Sony you want to add the accessories to get the discount, that would work the best. Ask for a supervisor to discuss this option; lower-level reps must follow a script; supervisors probably have more leeway to adjust.
Secondly, people return CTO's all the time -- they're sold in the Outlet as new "Clearance" items regularly at Sony Style in the States.
Lastly, if I'm not mistaken, you can always refuse a FedEx or a UPS or even a USPS shipment -- and back it goes to the sender. So if you cancel in writing with Sony before it arrives, that might be an option. Check with the carrier involved. [email protected] is an address you could use to send a cancel order in writing. Check your online account to find out what carrier was used. The worst that could happen is that you would be responsible for the return shipping charges which Sony paid -- and which you would pay anyway if you accept and then return the package yourself for a refund in the 30-day return period.
But I'd suggest escalating your concern to a supervisor at Sony to discuss the add-on of the accessories and the price-match guarantee. That way, everyone's happy: you get the computer as scheduled and the special offer, and Sony avoids having to Outlet another CTO at a reduced price. -
Yea well found out it was canceled. I think i should have talked to a supervisor the first time when i asked about updating my order to add accessories. But the major problem was that i needed to change the address to my home address as I am on vacation and was getting it sent to the place im staying at. It was going to be too close of a call as I was suppose to get it the 17-18th which is when i was going to leave on the 18th. Only way ill be kicking myself now is if someone says that it is possible to change shipping address if i talked to a supervisor.
I already reordered the preconfig comp mid grade FW490 and added my accessories for the $150 off. For some reason it is more expensive with the same comp specs than if i config the exact same thing on the CTO. (About 80$ more) Does anyone know why?
I also bought with a student discount.
This is the preconfiged comp final price I got the case and 2gb drive basically worse specs on the comp except it has BR write BUT not fresh install/2.66 cpu.
