I'm looking at FW 290CTO and AW190CTO. Price difference is roughly $500 for equally configured system. So if I get XBRITE-FullHD on FW is it different from XBRITE-FullHD on AW ? I'm not a professional photographer but someone who takes digital imaging seriously. So is it worth spending extra $500 for AW190 CTO over FW290 CTO ?

I haven't compared the screens myself first hand, but from reports I've read, these screens will be roughly equivalent.
The screen where the AW would technically win is if you upgraded to the 3LED backlit version... you should get a much wider gamut with that display (whether that's useful to you is still debatable if the rest of your equipment and workflow uses sRGB colour space anyway!). But I think you need to add quite a bit to the price for the 3LED backlit version. -

Yup, it's not cheap. And unless you're making money from the accuracy of your colour, I don't think it's worth the extra. I take my image editing seriously, but I have better things to spend my money on...
There are those who consider wide gamut screens a waste of money until the rest of the hardware/software catches up with the technology anyway. From what I've read, the X-BRITE screens are very good but you will probably need to turn it down a notch or two to get realistic colour (the default is for 'wow' saturation and the dual-lamp screens can be retina-burningly bright when on full brightness, which might not be what you're looking for for photos...).
Why AW instead of FW for digital image editing ?
