    Why I have doubts that the new series are available to order tonight...

    The current line up of VAIO are not on sale. No specials. No discounts. No price change... If sony were to release the new SR tonight for order, don't you think they'd lower the SZ Price significantly? I mean.. who would but a 1,600 SZ when the new Z or SR is also available for the same or slighty more in price?

    I have doubts... I don't think we are going to see the new series available for order for a while. I remember when the FZ came out, sony announced it, THEN released it sometime later..if I remember correctly.

    Well, just because it's "officially" released by Intel, doesn't mean manufacturers will come out with theirs on the same day. :)
    But I'd definitely look to later this summer for releases to come out. :)

    The word is that a lot of new notebooks will be "announced" tomorrow, but orders won't be taken until the beginning of August, or they might allow pre-orders and then products will actually ship some time in August but not before.

    There would be an explanation for that: Sony does not want to piss off their customers, so if the SR and Z go on sale tonight, they'd sell their remaining stock of SZ to the retail channel.

    Does anybody know if PRE ORDER saves any money what soever? Do prices of laptop usually spike up after they initially release then go back down or do they gradually go down from release? What I mean is... lets say SR releases for pre orde at 1,500 for a given model... then 2 weeks later once its availble for immediate shipping, it jumpts to 1,550. OR do they not usually do that?

    Otherwise, why pre-order? might as well just wait till they are ready to ship. Doubt they'd be backorder given the terrible timing and probably over pricing.

    Pre-order usually doesn't mean any savings.... it just means that (good news if you're really desperate) you "will definitely" get the product as soon as it is first available for shipping...

    Exactly, they may go on sale tomorrow, but they will not start shipping until the first week of August for the SR, BZ and FW.

    Z is expected to be out even later than the SR, BZ, and FW. so be prepared. Also remember that there will be around a 1 week waiting even if you order in august especially if you order a CTO. So essentially if you preorder you will get it a little before the people that ordered in August will.

    I really don't care if I can order it tonight. What I need is the complete official spec for each and every model so that I can decide whether I should buy the older model or wait for the new one.
