    Bottom line is that 3rd party batteries are not a recommended thing too use at all.

    But to answer the original question: Sony has a habit of overcharging for everything.

    There's at least two threads here about using non-OEM batteries on Vaios and I hear they work well but that there's a peice of Sony bloatware that detects them and prevents them from working on your computer.
