What were the main reasons for you to buy the Vaio Z?

Were you disappointed with the actual Vaio Z's performance in any of the reasons you gave for the previous question?

Were you pleasant surprised with something?

was amazed by small form factor.. weight.. screen colors.. and the styling when i got it.. volume seems equal to my 12" dell

Yes, the combination of brand name, graphics card, screen resolution, dimension, keyboard, and 64 bit....
A big factor, was also the consumer reports recommendation for the first Z's last October...
for me, the deciding factor was seeing one in person at the sony style. the screen is incredible. When I bought mine, the price and package was not available in other brands.
I never considered Macs, I need compatibility in my work and really not interested in the extra step of trying to run windows on a Mac

I wanted ultraportable, under 4lbs, but I also wanted a 13" screen (found it to be my sweet spot right now - didn't want larger due to outside dimensions, didn't want a smaller screen though).
I wanted a normal HDD (for the $, more storage...can replace later w/ SSD).
I wanted a good processor, not a ULV or similar.
    I wanted an optical drive.
    I wanted good battery life.
    I wanted a warranty of 3-4 years.
I preferred something I found attractive if possible (rather than a black brick).

To me, this (and the total budget) narrowed down the choices significantly. I compared many notebooks that fell short of my requirements (no US warranty, loads of complaints, no optical drive, crappy processors, 4-5lbs, etc.).

So for me, the Z just really seemed to be a sweet spot in terms of getting what I wanted most in a notebook for my budget right now. (I certainly learned *every* notebook has it's pros/cons and that you may have to give a little somewhere on your wants ... but the Z fulfilled the most important aspects for me by means of portability and power.)

I am very happy with its size/weight, the screen, having HDMI, and I happen to love the keyboard (I'm finding it quiet, responsive, and easy to use - I've previously fumbled on laptop keyboards despite being an excellent typist, but I quickly adapted to the Z). I'm also very happy with the screen space and the overall look of the notebook.

I get that not everyone would want a Z, or like Sony, or ... it didn't matter. I think I made the right choice for me. And I am so glad I quit waiting, there's *always* an excuse to wait, and had I kept coming up with more I'd never own a freaking notebook. ;)

Because it's the only 13" laptop with good battery life (switchable graphics) with a powerful CPU that didn't have a total neglect for its looks. The Lenovo 13" was the other consideration with these good specs, only thing I didn't like was its aesthetics.

If you have ever opened a 13” laptop and looked inside, you would know whats the diffidence between Sony and others. I bet no one takes engineering as a design aspect when they start a new line of laptops like Sony does. How portable and well-shaped, how to gather all needed hardware for a top performance with multiple choices like screen, video card and storage. Sony plays it well when I talk about this specific line of laptops since I used S, SZ and now having Z. it’s my best choice all the time trying to compare it with others when I decide to get rid of a laptop and change it with a new one. One more thing, I got a Z610 for only $890 shipped, thanks to eBay auctions.

Basically bought it because it has the power of a larger notebook in such a small package. I saw it as an all around machine. I even use it to play game at decent quality and frame rate. Definitely made the right choice by ordering this.

gorgeous looking laptop, wide enough for me to work on a 2-page spread for publishing, or compare design documents side by side... and under 4lbs.
