Silly question, but anyone have any idea why Sony made both the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports colored blue in the Z3? It's been a norm adopted throughout most computers lately that regular USB 2.0 ports are not blue, and USB 3.0 ports are blue, so you can easily distinguish them.
In the Z3, although it has 1 USB 2.0 port and 1 USB 3.0 port, both are blue. I wonder if they're trying some subtle marketing on us...

there's one USB lightpeak port (USB 3.0 compatible) and the other one is a usb 3.0 port.
Which Z3 are you talking about ?
The lastest Z are the VPC-Z23xxx/x and the SVZ1311xx/x
The first one is a Sandy Bridge version and has one USB 2.0 and one USB LightPeak that is USB 3.0 compatible and only the LightPeak port is blue. -
It's an error on the specs page of the sony store website.

Hmm, interesting. Did you find this out by testing the ports and checking the speed, or is this discussed somewhere (link?)?

In the sony Z3 owner's lounge I asked and people said they tested speeds of USB 3.0 harddrives in both ports and saw similar numbers. I was also in a Sony Store yesterday and the technician said they were both 3.0 compatible.

I just downloaded a copy of the Microsoft 'usbview' utility, that enumerates devices on all USB busses and shows attached devices. Plugging anything into either port (whether USB 2.0 device or USB 3.0 device) showed it appearing on the USB 3.0 bus, so that validates what you've said.
Thanks much!

Why does Z3 have USB 2.0 port colored blue?
