We've all heard and read it... "sexy Sony"...[ :)]... but... what is it that makes Sony sexy? Do we all agree that it *is* sexy? Why are the other brands not considered "sexy"... sleek as some of them are...?

    Your thoughts?

Sony is sexy. I think it's their marketing style promoting high quality and a youthfull aire. Their products tend to be high-end with sleek designs. In fact they were at the top of the design heap for electonics until Apple got involved. So years of this leads a brand to be sexy...that's my take anyway.

i get turned on by Sony, don't you? Just kidding of course.

Sony is always willing to innovate and walk on the fringe, even though they're a Japanese conglomerate, that's what makes them sexy. Their design usually always different too...not to say it's always the best, they've failed miserably at times, but they are different and often times better with their design.

I'd have to agree I think they put too much money in the looks rather than in the specs. Esp. for the price you pay. However, they are nice machines.

Ahhhhhhhh! A cigarette after heavy typing with my VAIO....j/k

OK, let me preface this by saying I've always been a person stuck between the 'tech' world and the 'cool' world. It's a loooooooooong friggin story that someday I hope to make money off of. But anyways...VAIOs are sexy because of they're design, the marketing, and overall image / 'brand' appeal.

Sony has a strong brand that promotes many strong images. When you think of a 'Sony' (it could be a Sony toothbrush), people think of premium quality, durabilty, clean design with hint of elegance. That's a 'Sony'. We even refer to a Sony product by just calling it a 'Sony'. They also have the history to backup that brand. My first Sony Walkman still works. Bought sometime back in the late 80's, I was cool because it had a radio and auto-reverse. It's been bumped, dropped, knocked around over the 7 plus years I used it. If I stick a head cleaner in it, it still works like the day I got it. That same history is applied to the VAIO series.

Sony also promotes nice clean designs, I like to refer to it as 'simple elegance'. Products that look sophisticated, often matching their designs. They're pleasing to the eye and stand out. For us not totally immersed in the tech world, the designs defy the normal which is what 'we' want. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a big ol' book of a computer. But for those that prefer style, VAIOs offer that.

And the marketing reflects all of this. Sony markets it's products as dependable, lasting through the generations. Their ads are typically upscale and promote affluence. For those that appreciate that style, the VAIO is a perfect fit.

So that's why VAIOs are sexy. It's like having a blond (or brunette...pick your poison) with a perfect body and a brain. Everything you want in a nice looking package. Now whether the blond will last the years......
