Can someone please explain what the benefits are, when it comes to buying a TZ from japan? I know There are different colors sold in japan, but is this the only reason to have one shipped from japan?

North America and Japan are the only places where you can custom order the TZ, with Japan having many more options.

Such as in Japan, you can choose to order the TZ with a Celeron processor to cut costs or get a 2.5" 160gb or 250gb hard drive in place of the DVD drive.

In North America, if you want to get the 250gb HDD, you need to get the TZ with a 64gb SSD as well, making it very expensive.

If you want the Premium Carbon lid color for example, you need to get the highest end TZ model in America and countries with an expensive SSD. But in Japan, you can get the lowest end TZ with Celeron M processor, 1gb of ram, 160gb HDD and get any color you want.

I wish I could have gotten a TZ with the 2.5" 250gb HDD instead of the 1.8" 100gb HDD and DVD drive in mine, since I never use my DVD drive and 2.5" HDDs are faster and offer much more capacity than the 1.8" standard HDDs.

I'm pretty sure the 3-year warranty is Japan only, you have to send it to Japan for it to get serviced. But they offer a 1-year global warranty I think for extra.
