Why the Z series are still nowhere to be found except select Sony Style stores? Most but select Sony Style stores don't have them and other brick and mortar stores don't have them either. I would like to see the notebook in person, especially the one with 1600x900 resolution.

Well it is not actually on sale right now...
But as soon as the sales/shipping starts it will eb on display in many stores, I believe, since it is sonys flagship....

So keep waiting about 2 more weeks (August 15, I guess) and then you can finally see it in person xD

But I have seen FW and SR. Why their flagship Z series have to take a backseat? Shouldn't the flagship come first?

Well, its probably due to the intel centrino 2 requirements, and sony wasn't able to release enough retail display models to resellers.

The fw and sr have the atheros card I think, so all they really had is the new chipset and montevina cpu ready to go out the door.

I think it's because of the (old) news* that Montevina integrated graphics had been delayed. The Z uses integrated and discrete graphics, whereas the other series are only discrete. * http://www.edn.com/article/CA6564602.html
