Hey guys. I'm having a really strange problem with the WLAN in my Z11. I'm downloading extremely slowly (uploading is fine).

here is the speedtest screen from my old laptop (also using wireless on the same network):

I've had the problem since picking up the Z brand new 2 or 3 months ago. Is there a throttling wireless setting that I may have switched on/off? Thanks.

Used default drivers up until yesterday when the VAIO update utility downloaded new ones. Same prob though.

The times I see that sort of behavior is when the signal strength from base station to laptop is weaker than laptop to base station. Did you try moving the Z around? Is the other laptop at the same location as the Z when the Speedtest was run?

I'm wondering if this is an 802.11g vs. 802.11n problem, does the base station use 802.11n? Although I'm not sure it should matter...

Is this an Intel WiFi card? Are your IP and DNS addresses static or supplied by DHCP? Also, is "Power Saver" enabled on your card?

Try to update to the latest wireless card drivers through intel (most likely 13.2.1.5 if you have a intel 6200agn).

thought i'd chime in on this thread again. It wasn't a driver issue. The download problem was fixed when I changed my wireless router to B-G mode and disabled wireless-n. damn you, linksys wrt150n. :)
