i got my laptop last month (VGN-NS110E) and i've recently been having this issue with the wifi switch as I had a MBR error on the partition and had to format everything...green light doesn't go on and i can't get it to turn on with smartWi...Sony tech support sucks bigtime....I am thinking it may be a hardware issue and I just want them to take a look at it but the "tech" told me I need to install the recovery disk first which i hate because all the unneeded extra bs that comes on it....I have misplaced my recovery disks that came with the laptop so I first installed vista ultimate and then sony told me only supports vista home premium. I don't want to order replacement disk knowing that it may not work...Anyone have a suggestion on what I could try or where I would be able to find the recovery disk i need...?

    Thanks in advance :)

the main question is did you install the sony utilities in order? I have a laptop that wifi wouldnt work and then it was software issue. Ex. As far as installing the utilities..i started with sony shared library(restart), sonyutils(restart), sony video shared library(restart), vaio power management(restart), battery checker(restart), hdd protection(restart), setting utility(restart), battery care(restart), control center(restart), event service(restart), status monitor(restart), ps ql(restart), hardware diagnostics(restart).

note: you dont have to install all of the following if you dont want to.

Well yes I have tried fresh installs a number of times...once vista ultimate, then vista home premium as the tech suggested I do...I was thinking it was a hardware issue but the sony tech i talked to on the phone insisted it is due to me not installing the recovery disk....:S....
Does anyone know where else I would be able to find the specific recovery disks other than waiting for it in the mail

I didn't install the drivers in a particular order...where do I find the utilities? are they also the ones on the same page as the drivers on the sony

those drivers are on the sony esupport page for your model notebook. make sure everything is recognized in device manager also. you dont want this to be a hardware issue..that could cost you dude.

I have everything from the support page installed but still doesn't work
I am going to try to recover my old partition with getdataback but just wondering how I can access the old recovery partition after I have recovered it?
