Hey guys, this is my first post here. I've been having problems with my Vaio VGN-FS660W. I have to do a presentation on friday night with an LCD projector, and when I tried to get it to work a few days ago, the Projector was receiving a signal, but even when I tried to turn up the contrast and brightness all the way, you can barely see the image. I played around with the options of my video card and display settings for a while, but nothing worked. So I gave up thinking there was some incompatibility issue between the projector and the computer. When I got home, I plugged in my desktop's monitor into my monitor out vga port on the laptop. Once again, the image was dim, even when I turned up the brightness and contrast. So I figured it's a problem with the notebook.

So I got onto Sony's ESupport thing (the warranty has expired) and I followed all of the troubleshooting tips of their tech support guys, including playing around with primary/secondary monitors, turning up the brightness/contrast and desktop resolution, and resetting the bios and reinstalling my video card driver.

Nothing worked, the image is still dim. I was wondering what should be my next step...

Should I do a complete factory system restore?
    or

Should I give up and go to a repair shop? And if so, how much would it be to replace something like a broken Monitor Out port. It seems to work, but the image is just really dim.

    or

    Should I do something else?

Thanks for the input guys, it's much appreciated!
