I tried searching for my issue with no luck, when I am wireless my VGN-TX650p will become unresponsive (curser) when I change position of the laptop slightly, it seems to work flawlessly in certain positions only. I am in a coffee shop very close to the router and no other users seem to have issues. I tried driver updates that are listed on the sony vaio support page with no luck.

Could there be an issue with the wireless card? should I try changing to a different wireless utility, not sure if that can be done. I am not very knowledgable with computers, but do very well following directions, any help would be appreciated.

sounds more like a hardware/design issue....

It wouldn't hurt to look for newer drivers (those Sony offering are usually outdated).
I would bet on design disadvantage, but could be a hardware problem. If you can reproduce it elsewhere as well - you could get in touch with Sony.

Thanks for the reply, is there a recommended new driver I should try? download link? If its a hardware problem would a new wifi card be the fix? excuse my ignorance I am somewhat limited to software hardware implications. thanks

There is no certain recommended driver, especially when I have no idea what your WiFi card is :)) (not familiar with your vaio model). Check the WLAN-module model and go to the manufacturer's website and look for drivers or use google.

Depends where the problem is... if it is an almost cut wire to the antenna or defective antenna no WLAN card will help. Ths is something Sony would have to check if you are in warranty.

If it is just the one hotspot I wouldn't worry though - could be some kind of compatibility issue...
Have you tried boosting the transmit power of the WLAN device (if you have the option)?

Here is how mine looks like, you can find this menu under properties of the WiFi device in Device Manager. Not all WLAN modules have this option though.
