    Hello,

New to the forum and with the help of some great post got my SZ650 running perfectly with a clean XP Pro/Sony driver install.
I was searching the Santa Rosa Intel T7500 2.2 thats in our Vaio's and it appears to be a 64 bit processor.
Being a relative novice I wanted to ask if anyone knows if the 64 bit version of XP Pro would run with the Sony provided XP Pro drivers or is there such a thing as 64 bit drivers.

    Thanks!

yes there is such a thing as 64-bit drivers. So unless you can find them, then your hardware wont work with any 64-bit OS! But if you can find the right drivers, then your sorted!

i sincerely doubt youll be able to successfully find and install drivers for winxp 64. it was hard enough getting everything to work on the x86 version. also, unless youre running apps designed for 64bit processors youre really not going to gain anything by installing x64.

I think XP Professional 64-bit can run on the SZ650 but you could likely have trouble finding drivers for everything. Vista Ultimate 64-bit would be a better option.

Unfortunately sony has NOT made any sz drivers available for the 64 bit system yet. So we are stuck using the 32 bit system which only recognizes 3 gigs of ram instead of the total 4gigs available ( that is assuming you have 4 gigs to begin with ). Total waste of a perfectly good computer imho.
