As I just bought this laptop for a few months.
I wonder that if the Santa Rosa will fit to the normal 479 socket?
and is it compatible with 945PM?
Thank you and I do have one more question.
Will the 4 GB of ram @ 667MHz will work with this laptop?
As I'm a student of an university and in Software engineering field,
I would like to make some games myself as hobby that mean 3ds max and maya.
So I think that I need some more ram because at idle, the computer uses around 900MB- 1GB(i'm using vista)

    Thank you in Advance.
(sorry for my english, I'm an Asian.)

1.) No, to use Santa Rosa you will require a new laptop.
2.) You more than likely have the 945PM currently, not sure what the ? is.
3.) Perhaps, but you'd be better off getting 2x1GB sticks, 4GB is quite expensive and you should get along alright with 2GB.

it should perform better than the 945gm, the 945 Front Side Bus Speed only reach 667mhz, it really can't act well the 667mhz memory even than the 533 memory, but the santa rosa has a Front Side Bus Speed at 800mhz, so it should be a better improvment over the current platform.

Santa Rosa is not a cpu, it's a platform consisting a cpu with 800mhz bus, 965 chipset and some other misc things.

So in order for your laptop to be upgraded to santa rosa, you're gonna need to replace the entire motherboard, not just the chip.
