Hey guys! I've been with Sony for a while now and having bought my latest core i7 VPCF1190X I became slightly disappointed indeed. The design is beautiful, hardware performs extremely fast especially in games, bluray is an amzing experience to have but.... but the screen is a mess. Those antiglare screens are simply unbearable to look at! You always see your reflection like in the mirror and it's extremely annyoing! I was wondering am I the only one pissed at that and also that Sony does not have that antiglare/matte screen option in customization area like Apple does!? That's a good question and a decent request for the company. I was contacting Sony for several times on the phone already asking them to fill in that form to include that antiglare screen option in the nearest future on their Vaio laptops. That would be so nice if you could have that high resolution 1920x1080 with a matte screen indeed! It will sure leave behind Apple's 1650x1300 or whatever they got!!! So anyone is willing to help me and call them requesting that option filling in those feedback forms etc and then we might definitely have it in the nearest future!!!? Guys help me out here for real and the dream will become a reality indeed!

Thank you for everyone reading that!!! With all my respect to Sony

The most matt screen I've seen from Sony is from a VGN-Z.
The newer VPC-Z is still semi-matt-ish, but is not as matt as the older VGN-Z is.

That said, I've never seen an Apple machine that has a matt screen, or one that even comes close to a VGN-Z. I guess that's market dependent (I live in New Zealand). All the Macbooks I see here (Pros, those pure white ones too) have a purplish tint on their reflection, and those models as do most other manufacturers reflect like a full on, proper mirror.

I bought my VGN-Z because I hated glossy surfaces, them being finger-print magnets and all (everyone has them these days so I thought I'd differientiate myself). And I've never looked back.

    Same here :D
and notebookcheck reviews say the vaio F already has a very nice matte screen? So does the vaio Z. The matte screen of my vpc Z does reflect a little bit in sunlight, but it's acceptable to me.

Funny, when I was buying my old Vaio S laptop (before my current Z and previous SZ) a few years back, the glossy X-Brite screen was all the rage...
