All notebooks are muti-voltage, i think?, you will just need a UK power lead or an adapter.

You might want to research about international warranty too if you can get it and want it.

The only problem might be the warranty and some additional, local services (if such are offered by Sony). Laptops will work anywhere in the world, given you have the right plug adapter ( not voltage adapter, because I'm 100% sure all manufacturers' power adapters work with 100-240v).

My Japanese Vaio FW worked very well in Europe :), just had to buy something like this ( http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51WQChdwC+L._SL500_AA280_.jpg) for $3. However, the warranty does not cover Europe... but for now I don't really care.

i also live in Europe and have a us bought FW. the power brick accepts 110-240V so all i had to do was buy a adapter, not voltage adapter. all worked good.

if you don't mind about the lack of guarantee go for it.
also wait if you can to buy it with windows 7 on it, might cause you problem with the free upgrade program
