I'm curious if adding an extra gig of ram (going from 1GB to 2GB) will make my SZ160 faster. I'm running Vista on it and I don't do anything intensive that taxes it and it really doesn't even seem slow but I wonder if Vista in general will be zippier with 2GB. Also does adding ram increase the Vista index score?

Adding another gig of RAM is easily the cheapest way to increase your laptop speed. Vista functions much better under 2 GB than 1 GB, but be aware that you may have to purchase either 2 1GB sticks or 1 2GB stick to get 2 GB.

You really should add an extra GB of memory because Vista performs much better with 2GB than with 1GB. Plus you say you feel that its a little slow even for things you're doing which are not so straining.

Memory is pretty cheap these days so just make sure you put the slot in properly. You will notice a definite increase in response.
