i have a tz2000. i know people here have installed windows 7 on their TZs, but here's what sony's site officially says about the TZ and win 7:

"The hardware configuration of this model does not meet the minimum system requirements needed to run and provide the full experience of the Windows® 7 operating system.
Windows® 7 installation is not recommended and Sony will not be providing Windows® 7 drivers for this model."

so, my question, specifically for TZ owners, is, what is your experience? i had another thread trying to figure out whether to upgrade to 32 or 64 bit. but now, i'm not even sure if I should upgrade. (see my sig for my system specs)

edit: on sony's site, i selected my model...haven't used the autodetect. microsoft's win7 upgrade advisor tells me i can upgrade to 32-bit.

You can use Win 7 on a TZ, I tried it on my TZ21MN/B that only runs at 1Ghz and it was faster that XP and Vista.

I'm a bit annoyed that Sony won't release an official drivers pack (from your post), so I would see if the guys at Portable One are gonna do any disks.

There are install guides on here that show that it can be done and there is a order in which to install the drivers. I guess you'll have to check the TZ owners thread.

It's a Sony - once they stop selling it, that's the state it's in. So 90's of them but I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I'd agree the TZ is the main Sony machine of the last 2-3 years that could get a sizeable kick up the butt from a clean W7 install. A friend I gave one of my earlier TZ's to asked me to take a look at it recently, and compared to what I'm used to now, I was just stunned at how slow it was with the default, crapware-infused install that he hadn't bothered to change. I could have sworn it's even slower than my memory of the G11.
