I installed Nvidia system tools earlier today, but didn't change anything (knowingly) at the time.

I then downloaded and installed batterybar which asked for a reboot, and upon restarting Aero had stopped working and 7 had apparently forgotten my gpu exists?!

I've downloaded the latest driver from Nvidia but it's telling my there isn't any compatible hardware?

Quick screenshot of what win7 is saying my system secs are:

You could have named the laptop...

    Its a Vaio - that's the problem...

Same on an SZ, you can only install the Sony graphics driver.

So you either need a Sony driver or one from laptopvide2go.

I'll also ask a mod to move this to the Sony forum - this is Sony specific - you may want to try a Sony driver for a newer model and modify the .inf file which is used to identify compatible laptops I think..
Also try searching the forum :)

Sorry, thought my signature would have given the laptop away.

Is this a common Vaio problem then?

Its not a "problem" as you can bypass it, but I think its one of their "lockdowns"...

Vaios are a tad restrictive - but overall I find mine works well :)

Yepp, but Sony isn't great for driver updates :D

So he either has to use his old driver (from the Sony page) or bypass the little "lockdown".

Yea, I'm working on a way to get the NVidia beta's working on the CW models with the G210m right now. It's all in the way Sony had the MOBO made. It has GDDR3 instead of DDR3 or DDR2 like some of the cheaper models of the G210. The DEV, VEN, and SUBSYS id's work, but it also has a REVA2 appended to it so the stock NVidia drivers won't work. At least not yet.

This is SOOOO frustrating that Sony still won't let Nvidia support their systems :(

I don't get it...they have two systems out right now that just popped up on Best Buy that I'd probably buy, or certainly consider, but...no official driver support. They're cheating themselves out of competing with Asus and the like.
