    I have UX280
    installed Win7 Starter on it
Since win7 drivers doesn't exsist for this model, I used vista drivers
    except for ACPI\SNY6001
which I believe is Sony Programmable I/O Control Device
Driver is not listed under UX model, there are driver for different model, like SZ but when I tried to install, it tells me the driver is not intended for this model...

also some button functions like Zoom in/out doesn't seem to work, even though driver installed fine

You can use the Universal Extractor tool ( Universal Extractor | LegRoom.net) to decompress the file. Inside is a subdirectory which has the raw installer minus the compatibility check.

It's strange that you need to though, since the PIO driver should automatically install. Go into control panel, then “System”, and then from the left menu, select “Advanced System Settings”. In the new window change to the “Hardware tab” then select “Device Install Settings”. Select “Yes, do this automatically” then select save changes. This should allow it to automatically find most of the drivers you need.

    thank you, that fixed it.
    one more question
I did not clean install win7 because I wanted to keep the recovery img
I know recovery img is store in seperate partition,, after installing win7 I got windows.old folder for xp
if I delete that folder would I still be able to go back and run recovery?
I was able to run recovery and go back to xp but not sure what would happen if I completely format or delete xp folder(windows.old)

Windows.old is the Vista install in case you intend to restore it or need to pull any info out of it. It's safe to delete it.

Can you still use the recovery partition? I would imagine so, but I'm not sure if you woudl need to recover Vista first or not though. Once I went to Win7 I wouldn't want to return to Vista though, 7 is just sooo much better.
