I was wondering if anybody has gotten to run Windows 2000 somehow on a Vaio with an Intel ich9 SATA controller? Sony/Intel provide a driver that works fine with XP, but it does NOT work with Win2000. I really want to install Windows 2000 on my new Vaio, but after searching for a driver all day I've found nothing :( Anybody have any ideas?

Maybe run the HDD in IDE mode?

    Check the BIOS.

    There should be something there.
Try changing it from SATA to "compatibility" or something.

I wish! Unfortunately, the Sony BIOS is pretty much empty. All it has is settings for date/time, VT, and boot order. That's it :(

At least you have an option for vt, i don't. A week ago i tried to look for Intel SATA drivers for ich8 controller, with no luck. The latest sata drivers for windows 2000 that intel had did not have the same hardware id for my drive.

Overall, i don't think you would be able to install windows 2000 unless someone out there has modified the drivers to work for it. I wouldn't go through the trouble of trying to get win2000 to work on your laptop, just install it in virtual pc, much easier to play around with it then.
