Hey,
I know of course that the current Sony utilities are not really meant for Windows 7. However, does anyone have Windows 7 RC with the VAIO Power Management utility installed? If so, do you also see the issue where the PM plan is not called 'VAIO Optimized' but rather something like 'SPMResMui.dll,-100'? If you do not see this, could you please tell me the version of VAIO Power Management you are using?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have installed Win 7 RC and all VAIO utils. I have normal plan names like 'VAIO optimized' and other. Maby try uninstall it. Restart computer and then install in Vista compatibility mode.
My VAIO Power Management software is VAIO_Power_Management_3.2_091Q_2.0.11250.zip from Sony Europe site. -
I had this problem also, upon upgrading from Windows 7 RC1 build 7100 to 7123 the problem fixed itself and is now showing 'Vaio Maximum Battery'.
I'm unsure of whether the new build of windows fixed the problem or Vaio power management overwrote a file in 7 to cause the power management text to show incorrectly. -
I had these string power scheme names also after various Windows 7 x64 update attempts on my Z690. I finally got rid of them:
- First I installed the latest VAIO® Power Management Update (3.2.1.12240) from the Sony Support site. This re-added the properly named schemes but left the extra schemes with the strange names.
- Then I selected one of the proper schemes as active.
- Now I could delete each of the strange schemes (select edit and then click on the delete option).

I have this problem with my FZ and Win 7 RC X64 build 7100. I uninstalled Vaio Power Management as it was designed for Vista and Windows 7 has better power management on it's own.

Is anyone noticing worse battery life? I'm only showing 3:00 or so when in max battery and 4:00 with my extended battery. That's about 45m to 1hour less than I showed in Vista. I don't have VAIO Power Management installed because I cant get the tab to show up in advanced power options. I can't get to the screen the shows where I can disable the optical drive and LAN port.
Could the battery meter not be calibrated correctly because I haven't done a full power cycle?
