Because that model (Sony FZ280E\B) didn't come with bluetooth?

I've looked at the that doc before and thought it was weird it wasn't included. The bluetooth emblem is on my box, the users manual references how to use it with the wireless switch utility and Sony's support site contains drivers for the 'Broadcom' bluetooth. I also remember seeing the bluetooth selection when I had vista installed originally. So I think it's safe to say it's included, although I agree it doesn't make sense that I'm not seeing the device...
Any other ideas??? -

At boot up, did you EVER see a blue light immediately to the left of the "WLAN" light? If so, you have bluetooth. If not, it was not installed. Unless you machine was custom ordered (unlikely as the B models were the "business" models, I believe) I doubt that it ever had the bluetooth module installed. Not sure what you mean by: "I also remember seeing the bluetooth selection when I had vista installed originally." WHERE did you see the "bluetooth selection"?
Gary -
I think there was a selection to enable bluetooth in the wireless switch setting software. It was the same place as being able to select 2.4/5ghz.
I will disagree with you on the "B"usiness class thing. I highly doubt Sony manufactured this line with anything business related in mind. A blu-ray burner doesn't fit that category.
I don't remember seeing a blue light at any time. However, I didn't have any bluetooth devices at the time and wasn't worried about it.
If it wasn't included in my model why would Sony have a driver listed for it?

You are right that was not a business model, sorry I was thinking of something else.
The wireless switch settings is a generic app, and Rajesh (aka coolguy) might chime in here, but I think it displayed that setting on ALL models. I don't think it bothered to look to see if there was bluetooth or not. The fact that you NEVER saw a blue light means you NEVER had bluetooth on your machine. If you had bluetooth, the light would have come on every time you cold booted the machine.
The driver is on the Sony site for folks who did a custom order and added bluetooth, I would suspect.
Gary -
Well now I'm starting to feel pretty dumb. It appears you are correct and it is not included with my model after talking to Sony. I should have noticed the 'not available on all models' phrase before. Thanks for your help.
Anyone know of a good/cheap bluetooth solution? -
Iz it OK if I post some software updates?
I use these for my VAIO VGN-AR870
Sony Shared Library v5.7.0.06070.ZIP
Setting Utility Series v5.3.0.07231 (I have to backup/add AppMonitorSetting.dll/mui for logo lamp ctrl)
VAIO Event Service v5.3.0.05310 (need to edit VESConfig.ini: [Default Extension] section with VESAVModeButton=1)
VAIO Camera Capture Utility v2.7.03.09250 (use Universal Extractor to extract)
VAIO Power Management v5.2.0.06210
VAIO Control Center v4.3.0.05310
I also use the guide posted here to get the special buttons working in addition to editing VESConfig.ini to get the av mode button working and adding AppMonitorSetting.dll & AppMonitorSetting.dll.mui from a earlier version of SUS, all working flawlessly (thanks to you guys)Attached Files:

Maybe I do something mistake by extracting.. I don't know..
Can somebody help me with this problem?
I use a Sony FZ21M..

Extract the right camera driver for your model, VCC-4 or VCC-8.
-
I fixed.. Thanks..

Is there a software available from Sony for Click to Disc BD? Or can you recommend something else so that you can write BD discs? Also what about the Sony Click to DVD Editor software?
I do have my Vista Recovery Discs I guess I could extract it from... but don't know the compatability with Win 7.
Thanks -
After all this time Sony finally updated its nvidia driver with support for older models (does not need modded inf)
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/NVIDIA_GRAPHICS_DRIVER_8.17.12.5903_X64.ZIP
Tested on my VGN-AR870 with 8600M GT with Windows 7 x64, not whql BTW and brightness control also not working
Have not downloaded this 32 bit driver but it was releases simultaneously with the 64 bit driver, so it may be the other one ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/NVIDIA_GRAPHICS_DRIVER_8.17.12.5887_X32.ZIP -
You can refer to my inf modifying instructions to make the brightness control work. This is the reason I haven't posted this driver in my guide. This driver still needs the brightness control modding.
Edit : Do not install this driver. Brightness control doesn't work at all. -
Correct I pointed that out, but at least its a good sign that Sony has not abandoned us after all
I personally use 257.41 from MS Update (contains nv_whql.inf that support multiple models) because with this I have a signed driver and the brightness control works
This is not the latest WHQL driver from Microsoft Update with multiple gpu support, the latest is 259.47 but like the one above this one does not have brightness control working...so I stick with 257.41 for now, until I find one that does -
Hi all just installed win 7 ultimate on my Sony VGN-FZ25M, but got 2 problems
1-I installed the Nvidi driver from vista and its working but after trying a while i got that message ((display DRIVER NVIDI compatible windows vista kernel mode driver, version 167.60 stopped responding and has successfully recovered))
Then was trying to install the one posted here but it could not detect the chipset and it makes no different i still got that error.
2-My Bluetooth is not detected at all and its built in, i dont know what to do
Any Help
Thanks to U all -
Your Nvidia card might have failed. Refer to the sticky at the top of the Sony forum.
What Bluetooth adapter do you have? Toshiba or Broadcom? -
Ya, i posted on sticky the problem, yet i added something else, when i went online n checked the problem, found another thread and they was recommending to uninstall the driver and to step back to older driver, anyway i did that but in my case there is no older driver and its showing am using a standard graphic adapter, but i did that and kept it that way and the problem disappeared which means that there is a driver conflict or something wrong, but now should i stay like that or what i can do as i think the resolution is not really the best as when the nvidia driver was installed.
Now how i will know the Bluetooth adapter and its built in? -
I have made a set of Sony FZ Supplimental Installation Notes for installing Windows 7 on my Sony VGN-FZ180E/B computer. These notes are to suppliment coolguys instructions and will be not be updated. However, these notes may be useful to help you install Windows 7 on any Sony FZ computer. This document is LONG!!!
I hope this can help

You can't do much with the standard VGA graphics driver. What Nvidia GPU does your model have? You should not use the old Vista driver with Windows 7. You can try the Microsoft Update driver in my guide.
You can find the bluetooth adapter information from your model's support page. -
Thanks elmerb, i used ur instruction to install the modified nvidia and it really works for me and so far everything is working ok...
Thanks allot
coolguy, thanks allot for the help, will my Nvidia is Geforce 8400M GT GPU,
and it seems i was doing something wrong, but when did it right everything went ok.
For the Bluetooth i got that driver from here
Original Drivers for VGN-FZ2 Series : Sony Asia Pacific
and it works fine so far, unless u have another recommendations ?
Thank You so much Coolguy -
it’s me again, shortly after and i thought everything is ok, after watching one clip and trying to watch another one it got hang and sound stops and i have to switch off the computer and restart it again.... but if i removed the Nvidia driver and step back to a standard VGA graphic driver everything is going fine..
Am really confused and don’t know what is it, i hope it’s not a hardware problem again as i replaced that chipset 4 months ago -
Regarding your problems, I would suggest that you may want to use an Nvidia Driver cleaner program before installing a new driver. Here is a link:
Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com
The link that you posted seems to point to instructions for installing drivers for a Sony SZ not FZ.... you don't have dual graphics drivers and a switch to switch between Speed and Stamina do you?... I don't think the FZ series of computers has this feature in any model. Therefore, even though the instructions say this is for a Sony FZ computer.... I think it is really for a Sony SZ computer.
Here is the specs for your computer:
http://vaio-online.sony.com/prod_info/vgn-fz27g/vgn-fz27g.pdf
Also I would think you would use the Broadcom bluetooth driver.
Note that you shouldn't mix old Vista drivers with the newer drivers in coolguys post... I would just go with coolguys drivers.
elmerb -
Elmerb, i did what u suggested me, cleaned up the driver and even installed the Broadcom Bluetooth driver and then did a fresh install to nvidia driver, but the moment i even watch a YouTube clip the computer turn so slow and the video stops and i cant sort it out unless i force for shut down and restart the computer, really its bugging me and the moment i remove that driver everything go fine with the standard VGA graphic display.
Really dont know what is the problem now -

Well I did a web search on Youtube and Nvidia problems. Seem like there may be some issues with the Flash player and the 8400 series of chips. Do you have the latest Flash Player installed (10.1)? I am not sure how you check it but you can go to Adobe and get the latest flash player there. You can try turning off hardware acceleration by right clicking on the video before it starts and turn off hardware accel. Is this problem only with Youtube or is it with other applications as well?
On mine with a 1080p video the video was OK but choppy because I don't have a big enough connection to the Internet for real time 1080P.
If it is only Youtube, then maybe we can isolate it to the Flash player...
elmerb -
I will update my flash player, but it’s not only YouTube its any clip or movie I watch, it’s like the moment u start shortly after it got hanging and stops and I have to force for shut down, yet while it’s on the standard VGA graphic display all is ok and no problems at all.

Hey all, has anyone managed to get audio over the HDMI with a blu ray disc. The basic windows one says that it doesnt have support of hdcp and the sigmatel ones dont work at all. say it isnt plugged in to HDMI. Cheers, Ed
-
Ed,
I am currently playing the BluRay disc "Planet Earth" via HDMI to a large screen TV with audio via HDMI. The default Windows 7 sound driver is the only one that successfully works. If you look at the properties of the Digital Audio (HDMI) device supported formats however, it says that HDCP is Not Supported. However if you look via the Nvidia Control Panel, it says that HDCP is supported on the graphics card and display and that your system is HDCP capable.
So yes you can play BluRay discs via HDMI with audio via HDMI.
elmerb -
What nvidia drivers are you using?when i plug my hdmi in and play a blu ray i get image on tv but sound through pc.even with hdmi set to default sound.hiw do i enable hdcp audio in nvidia drivers please.spent all of last night trying anything i could think of.Cheers Ed
-
Not Nvidia related. U have to switch the default sound device to HDMI in the sound configuration panel.
-
Try the Nvidia driver 258.96 in my guide. I am going to upload the latest 260.89 driver modded inf soon.
-
finally maanaged to get. I have to disable my on board speakers..even setting the hdmi as default doesn't work. But all sorted now. Bring on the A-team blu-ray
-
Updated Nvidia driver from 258.96 WHQL to 260.89 WHQL. The 260.XX driver comes with a new Nvidia installer.
-
Have you noticed any real differences with this new nvidia driver? I decided that Im not going to upgrade my nvidia driver anymore, i will only install the latest version when i do a reformat (usually every 6 months).
Your modified infs are much appreciated, thank you. I hope sony gets their act together and fully joins the verde program. -
I haven't noticed any noticeable difference with this driver.
-
Notebook 260.99 WHQL already available...
Poor Coolguy. -
Lol, I won't be updating minor version changes.
-
Considering the terrible feedback 260.89 had on various forums (dvxa issues etc...to take ofc with a pinch of salt as usual) I think I'll pass on this one.
My good old FZ21s and myself are thanking you for all your hardwork thou. -
I have no issues with the 260.89 driver.
-
thanks for this amazing guide, i really apreciate your efforts, i have a question for all of you, which driver u are using for the nvidia card 8400 gt, i need play blue rays but i dont know what is the better driver....thanks to you
pd: i have the fz190fe with blue ray -
Thank you so much for this awesome, helpful, and accurate guide!!! It's amazing how deficient Sony's official Windows 7 install guide is, so thanks again for sharing your expertise.
Unfortunately, the GPU on my FZ485UB died shortly after I completed the upgrade. I think I have the same problem other owners of laptops with a GeForce 8x00m are experiencing and will have to research my repair options. -
You are welcome. You can try the 260.89 driver. If it doesn't work for Blu-Ray, then use the MS Update 257.41 driver. 260.89 driver is actually the OEM (same settings) driver, and a better choice.
-
You are welcome.
Your faulty Nvidia 8400M GT GPU is qualified for a free replacement from Sony. Look at the sticky at top of the Sony forum for more information on the Sony's GPU replacement program. -
thanks again coolguy, i try the 260.89 driver but blue ray movies dont play well, i have the dox 185.95 driver now and i can play very nice the blue rays movies, i just wanna have the better driver for playing blue ray and games, u think the 257.41 driver is better than my 185.95, thank you 4 your time
-
i have same problem on 8400m gt 260.89 driver didnot work only driver wich work it is dox 185.85 driver
-
I have the same computer VGN-FZ190FE, I have Windos 7 x64 but I need to remplace the GPU.
This is the Windows 7 x64 258.96 2010-07-09, I can´t try, maybe can works. You need to extract and remplace the modified INF before to run the setup.
Older versions of the drivers for the model 8400 GT for Vaio FZ190FE (PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9005104D) are here (Windows 7 x64):

Nvidia 8400M GT is not a high end GPU. Install whatever driver that works for you.
-
i was folowing your guide and evryting works but nvidia 8400m gt drivers. only driver whoch work is Dox's Customized
-
Thank you again so very much! I thought I had researched that possibility but obviously did not do a thorough job. Sorry about that. I just set up a service case through the pertinent eSupport number and hope to get the machine repaired some time next week.

Did my modified Nvidia driver install? What issues are you having other than the Blu-Ray issue?
