I clean installed the Windows 7. However, I am unable to install the Intel chipset driver. I try to install the one download from the Sony website and the one download from Intel website, but there is a error message come up to say I have a imcompatible machine (something like that). Because I can't install the newer Intel chipset driver, the SM Bus Controller is not installed properly too. It has a ! mark besides it.

    Anyone has the same problem?

    My Sony Vaio is FW285DH.

What i would suggest that you do is to read over some other Windows 7 threads in this forum. The Z uses the same integrated chipset as the FW so what is suggested there should also be applicable for you.

I run the intel chipset file by checking the windows vista compatible in property, and it still no go. Error message.

I think I found out why. I installed the "no error" chipset patch file first. That makes me unable to update the Intel shipset driver. I do a clean W7 installation again, and this time I install the Intel Chipset driver (download from Intel website) first (run under vista compatible), and it installed fine. Now I have no more unknown driver in my system device manager

Note: The one from Sony website does not work for either with vista compatible or not
