    Hey NBRReaders :D

I created this thread in order to help TX owner to get all the laptop functionality and without missing any button or advanced power management options, I hope that this guide will be helpful and clear

First of all "after a clean install of Windows 7" run Windows 7 update and install all the important updates Which will include:

Sony Corporation - Input - Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device
Sony Corporation - Other hardware - Sony Programmable I/O Control Device
Intel Corporation - Display - Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family
CXT - modem - HDAUDIO SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP
*At this point everything is working and have its driver installed except Fn keys and AVMode + Eject button

Then you should download these drivers "Windows Vista Drivers"

    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/TX5_Drivers.zip

Unzip them and install the following in this order

    SonyUtils DLL
    Sony Shared Library
    Setting Utility Series
    Vaio Control Center
    Vaio Event Service
    AV Mode Button Utilty "optional"
Vaio Power Manger from here "working like charm with all options like disable CDRom and control fan speed"
*At this point you will have all the Fn keys working , media buttons and the Power management options

Install this driver to be able to scroll
Install "Wireless Switch Setting Utility" to be able to disable bluetooth to save power
Install "" to be able to use AVMode to turn on the laptop in Instant mode
All other utilities are optional "like hdd protection and battery checker and there is no need for Toshiba Bluetooth Stack since you can use Win7 BT Manger"

And from mcgregor thread I will add

TESTED and all working on my TX5MN/W :D

I hope that helps TX owners and am sorry for my English its not my native :)

I've had a bunch of trouble getting this to work, but I think I got it. The brightness, volume and AV buttons do work under win7 Ultimate now. I think the trick was to load the vista drivers after setting the install files to use vista compatibility mode. Or it was just luck after installing random drivers for hours and hours!
