I just upgraded from Vista to windows 7 pro 64. I have a Sony Z, but there isn't any driver support for the video card (geforce 9300m gs) from Sony. The computer doesn't seem to even be recognizing there is a graphics card aside from the on board one. Also, in device manager there is a 'Base System Device' driver isn't installed either. I've gone over this with sony but I keep getting different people and basically telling me to do the same thing. I'm no expert on this (clearly) so any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried installing the stock video driver for your exact model from the Sony support , what exact model number do you have?
Or just try the latest from the Nvidia website.

Have you tried downloading drivers directly off the Nvidia website for your gpu and OS and installing them?
Those official drivers should work fine for you. -
My model number is VGN-Z590. Sony support just told me they haven't released the audio or video drivers for my model yet, but the audio driver for a newer Z model worked fine. Still no luck on the video. I don't think the computer is recognizing that my computer has a dedicated video card at all. Is there some way to force this?
Thanks for the responses. -

Have a look in the bios , you might have a swappable video option , see if you can change it to dedicated.
EDIT : stupid sony no 64 bit drivers -
the sony z has a swappable video option to go between the on board Intel and the Nvidia...its a switch right on the keyboard (stamina-speed). I went through the bios but saw no option for it. I tried scanning for hardware in device manager but still no luck. It should show up right in device manager somewhere shouldn't it?

Some times a device will not show in the device manager at all, I think the driver gets messed up, I lost my ati hd4330 after using driver sweeper it was not there at all, no errors unknown devices or nothing, even after re-boots and scan for new hardware it still would not show up, the drivers from ati could not find my card in the device manger so the driver would not install , the only thing that worked was installing the stock graphic driver for my notebook.

I know! Nvidia singles out Sony Vaio's for their new drivers as non compatible. I think its because it is a hybrid system. Its pretty frustrating that the new Sony Z's have their driver support but it doesn't work on my model. Sony support said Sony "may or may not release driver support in the future"....veerryy helpful. Oh well, hopefully nvidia or sony will hop on this.
Thanks for all your help! -

So you get nothing in device manger for your 9300m , do you get unknown device or something?
