if you close the window by pressing esc it just comes back in a few seconds

i uninstalled the listed sony programs in the control panel and restarted but the problem s still there

    any ideas?

    thanks,
    Lyle

I would suggest you read up on the software/driver order that has to be followed to install Windows 7 properly.

It's the ISBMgr process that constantly detects if you have an authenticate sony battery and pops up that message if you don't. You can just disable that process from booting up every time windows starts through the msconfig util but there is a better solution:

You probably got the order wrong when installing sony utilities. You need to install the sony firmware extension parser driver, programmable I/O as well as the sony shared library before you install sony utilities. Just follow that order and this should eliminate your problem.

When you install Sony notebook Utilities, you want to extract that executeable, then install only the relevant software (see guides on this forum), and just don't install the battery utility and it'll be fine.
