The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Windows 7 and MP3 ** warning **

    For those of us who installed Windows 7, there is a patch from Microsoft that does not yet show up in Windows Update.

    If you use Media Player and update your MP3 headers, you may lose a few seconds of the beginning of the song. I noticed this on one of my songs, but convinced myself the song was always like that...grrr.

    Get the patch here and install.

    Naturally, this is a good lesson that you have backups of all your critical data before you start using it with a beta anything. Fortunately, I have backups of all my MP3's.
