The only Windows 7 threads are specific to the Z model, so I thought I would start one.

I installed Windows 7 on my three year old Sony Vaio VGN-FS760/W (1.73GHz Pentium M730, 2GB Ram, 90 GB 4200rpm HDD, NVidia Graphics).

The Windows experience index was 2.0 :D

But surprisingly the OS rocks! - has a 500MB footprint, runs less than 45 processes with clean install , and even aero works without any issues.

features I like - Random Wallpaper changing native to OS. New transparent start bar. More later as I find the tweaks.

That's great. Congrats. So far it works really well on my SZ680.

Windows 7 automatically downloaded the NVidia graphics.

However I had to go to the Sony support site to download the intel wireless drivers. till then wifi was not working and it was using a network cable.

Just an update. Though the laptop officially supports only 2 GB (2 x 1GB) , I just swapped a stick of 1 GB with a 2 GB Stick. I can see the 3 GB being accessed fine without any issues. Win 7 is now even more spiffy
