    Hi
I have a Sony Vaio FW21L. I was wondering whether this laptop supports the 64bit build of Windows 7 build 7600?

Also, will the Vaio software work as well?

    Thanks

Your system is 64 bits ready, so sure you can install W7 64 bits. Most of the Vista drivers will work, but do not expect 100% out of it.

Sony software might not work though.

Vista 64-bit drivers and utilities should work in Windows 7 RC.

Will the FW really work any faster or better than with Vista or XP? Every single computer I own works better and faster with XP. Every single one. Actually I want to buy an FW and the ONLY reaosn why i didnt is because it does not support XP. I know most of the drivers can be found and installed but I also know that eventually something will not work properly because Sony always has these proprietary stuff (like brightness control) that screw things up for the rest of us...

My FZ smokes with Vista 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit. Every single computer you own might not be designed to work with Vista. Vista should work as fast as XP in a decent speced machine.

As fast as XP... hmmm... maybe I can agree with you but, what does one actually gain? Aside from cluttering the harddrive with gigs of useless stuff and a few glitzy desktop effects, really, what does one really gain? I am yet to find one "uselfull" thing about Vista or 7 that is a must have and that XP doesnt have have, cleaner, leaner and simpler... Im not talking about DirectX 11 and gaming because I dont do those...

Well, it all depends on what you need your PC for. There are companies which have hardware that is at least 20 years old, there are also companies which run Win 3.1 and earlier versions. If it does the job then there is no need for an upgrade, simple as that.

Vista and its features have been documented to death, you can do a simple google search and see if you require any of the new features.

Windows 7 is based on Vista, it has been tweaked and additional features added. Once again you can read about them and decided if it will be worth purchasing it.

Anybody know the link to Sony's ftp's or sites where they keep their 64-bit drivers?
