Figure I could start a thread with my experiences with Windows 8 RTM and drivers/apps.
Installed Windows 8 pro rtm - Vaio S15
Installed Intel Chipset drivers that are on Sony's driver page.
Installed Sony Shared Library/Firmware extension parser driver
Installed Intels Video Drivers ( HD 4000 on Intel's page - Google Intel HD 4000 Windows 8 Drivers)
Ethernet/wifi/audio seem to be installed by Win8 by default - Checking on the Bluetooth and media card drivers
Will report more as I keep digging around.

Did you do a clean upgrade? I'm tempted to just do a file transfer because I don't want to lose the premium suite software.

I did a clean install. An upgrade would prob work as well, I'm sure windows does a compatibility check prior to installing.

According to Microsoft Employee Brandon LeBlanc

Once the 90-day evaluation period expires, your desktop background will turn black, and your PC will shut down every hour to prevent you from using it. Essentially, you should only download this if you don’t mind reinstalling Windows after the trial is up or if you’re used to running apps in a virtual environment. I understood he was discussing Windows 8 NOT Microsoft Xbox 360

If you're computer is running WinXP, Vista, or 7, you qualify for the $14.99 or $40.00 upgrade price. If it's NOT running one of those versions, then the inverse is true, you do not qualify for the $14.99 or $40.00 upgrade price.

If you've already replaced your OS with Windows 8 RTM, Release Preview (or the other betas)? , then you're no-longer running WinXP, Vista or 7. This effectively means that you MUST install WinXP, Vista or 7 FIRST.

Additionally you must keep your WinXP, Vista or 7 disc around for as long as you own Windows 8 upgrade in the event your computer crashed.

WMC Internet TV will not be available after September 20, 2012.

Windows 8 won't support DVD, Blu-ray playback by default. Why would the consumer want it right? Its not like the consumer is essentially forced to purchase software from a third party and Microsoft after purchasing an OS when the previous OS had support before Microsoft removed it from both the previous and new OS to ransom it back to us in the new OS.

A user summed up the the question and answer session. Why isn't Brandon talking to us anymore?

Upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99

Is this an Ad ? I was talking about the official RTM from MSDN.
Yes there are some things Win8 doesn't support.

I also got Windows 8 RTM from my University but I've been doing other things lately. Planning to install it next week. What about the drivers? Sauf Synaptics mouse drivers, any other incompatibility? Something to avoid?

I installed windows 8 RTM following the same guide somebody else published for windows 7.

IMO there is no way metro can be useful in any working environment. Any touchpad or mouse seems to be not enough for the interface.
Video drivers seems to be working fine.
Xloud/clear sound is for some reason really low. Dolby home theater v4 when its on, is noticeable louder, there is no other driver to install so I kind of stuck. any help
    Even Vaio Care works
Windows supports usb3 so there is no reason to install it.
