Hi, I know that there is no use of the Hybrid HD in Win XP, but just bought a Sony SZ650N (preowned) and after I checked everything in win vista I decided to do a clean install in win XP, but then I found that the 256MB that supposed to have the HD wont appear in any place.

I was thinking in installing there an Instant-ON os may be or a light version os linux and just use it if I wanted to check something on the internet quickly, but is there a way to show in win xp that? Or at least is it possible my idea? May be is not worth trying to do that hehe.

    Thanks!

To have that "instant-on" feature, it has to be part of the notebook hardware, so you can't really add it. That said, you can dual-boot with a light version of Linux, like Damn Small Linux, it should work fine, but I think you'd have to fully shut off the computer (can't leave it in standby/hibernate and choose to boot into a different OS).
