Hello Forum,
Has anyone had any luck installing the webcam drivers in XP for this model?
Also if you got any driver tips posting them here would be cool.
The Intel drivers are pretty easy to get they can be download from Intel (Video and NIc)
The Memory Stick drivers, I got from an FTP download from this link:
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/ - Select the FE3 Drivers File
-
I have a found a solution for some of our woes:
http://support.vaio.eu/downloads/in...l/FE4_Drivers.zip&ip=Preinstalled_Drivers.htm
This link provides you with the actual driver files for the VGN-FE880.
I have tried the webcam one, and it works. I have not tested other drivers as of yet. -
Nice work! All we need are the brightness/dim feature for the lcd. (probably need to find XP version of notebook utilities) Will Nero work on our Sony vaio? Since I don't have access to Roxio anymore.

Sweet! Installing Nero 7 now. Also, is your memory stick (E) drive showing up as broken shortcut?
-
Camera works fine with FE4 Utilities Video camera software... Only thing we need are the lcd ajustment shortcut keys to work...
-
-
i'm done for the night... I'll try finding the drivers for the LCD brightness screen tommorrow after work. Good luck!
-
I got the brightness to work! go to: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/ - Select the FE3_utilites and install this:
Utils Installer 1 SonyUtilsDLL
Utils Installer 2 Sony Shared Library
Utils Installer Vaio Event Service
Brightness FN + F5 +F6 now work along with the volume control short cut keys -
can somebody help me...and advice me where i can find all the drivers for FE890 to install XP ... please...cause i've searched for some, but they didn't worked...
Please if you are kind, drivers for everything.
Regards, Andrei -
Smurf, the links posted above your message provide all the drivers and utilities you need to switch from Vista to XP. I highly recommend you do it to a new HD and preserver your Vista install though, and I also highly recommend that you know what you're doing before you attempt this. Just download the FE3 drivers and utilities from the Sony UK FTP link above. Also, apparently some of the FE4 drivers help as well, at least with the webcam which will not work with the FE3 drivers, even though it appears to be working properly after installing. Haven't tried the FE4 driver yet but some claim they get the webcam working.
