    Hello Forum,

Has anyone had any luck installing the webcam drivers in XP for this model?

Also if you got any driver tips posting them here would be cool.

The Intel drivers are pretty easy to get they can be download from Intel (Video and NIc)

The Memory Stick drivers, I got from an FTP download from this link:

    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/ - Select the FE3 Drivers File

Nice work! All we need are the brightness/dim feature for the lcd. (probably need to find XP version of notebook utilities) Will Nero work on our Sony vaio? Since I don't have access to Roxio anymore.

Yes Nero works on my Vaio with no problems. I am using Nero 7 Ultra Edition.

Sweet! Installing Nero 7 now. Also, is your memory stick (E) drive showing up as broken shortcut?

I got the brightness to work! go to: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/ - Select the FE3_utilites and install this:

    Utils Installer 1 SonyUtilsDLL
Utils Installer 2 Sony Shared Library
    Utils Installer Vaio Event Service

Brightness FN + F5 +F6 now work along with the volume control short cut keys :)

Smurf, the links posted above your message provide all the drivers and utilities you need to switch from Vista to XP. I highly recommend you do it to a new HD and preserver your Vista install though, and I also highly recommend that you know what you're doing before you attempt this. Just download the FE3 drivers and utilities from the Sony UK FTP link above. Also, apparently some of the FE4 drivers help as well, at least with the webcam which will not work with the FE3 drivers, even though it appears to be working properly after installing. Haven't tried the FE4 driver yet but some claim they get the webcam working.
