I have just got this "notebook". I am planning to do a clean install of Windows XP pro. I am wondering if anyone has tried installing Windows XP Pro on it. If yes, does sony have drivers that work with windows xp for everything?

I do not know anyone that has tried installing XP on this machine. A quick look at the driver download page shows no drivers available for XP. The driver download page is located here:

    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-swu.pl?mdl=VGNFZ190#

If you already have a copy of XP you can use on it, then you really have nothing to lose but time. You could probably find XP drivers for most of the components separately, but you may end up with spotty performance, or trouble further down the line.

Drivers are most definitely available. The only issue is none of the applications are for things like power management and function keys.

See this thread: Downgrade FZ to XP

P.S. Unfortunately the forum software here will NOT let you search for two letter words like XP, ...sigh...
