everytime i go into My Computer and try and access the C drive, Windows pauses for anywhere between 3 and 8 seconds, before loading up the folder. I have an FE38 Vaio and this has only been a recent occurance, as in the last couple of days or so.

Is there any obvious reason for this occurance?

I'll suggest that you defrag your HDD.

Try this- If you have it on, turn off any folder view for the C drive that has thumbnails or excessive details- it can cause windows to poll every file in the root directory before showing the results on screen.

Run Spy bot & antivirus in safe mode.

    Delete all cookies & files.

Use a good defragger like PD or DK.

    Check Services......stop those unneeded.

    Regards.
