I have a Sony Z11, and sometimes my job takes me far away from Wi-Fi coverage, however my 3G iphone does get 3G reception... Anyone have 3G for their laptop? worth it? kinda pricey! $60 per month!

Not sure where you live, but Verizon also has pay as you go plans. You can do a day, week or month with no commitment.

I'm canceling my Sprint service in favor of this. I don't need wireless broadband too often, so it works really well for me.

    Yikes, I pay $30 a month for each of my 4 3G connections ( 1.5 GB plan )
if you are out and about and need e-mails or web access I find it very valuble to have in conjunction with my wifi.

I use fido's 3G connection on my Iphone 3G most of the time, either tethered with a cable or bluetooth and it's perfectly fine. Of course coverage varies depending where YOU are but in Vancouver I can get as much as 500kb/s download. I tried playing league of legends on it though and that didn't work so well with 400+ms ping.

I'm using Sprint Mobile Broadband via the USB modem. It is my only internet connection at home and when on the go. It's $60.00 a month for newer users and are limited to 5GB of data. I'm on an older " grandfathered " plan with true unlimited data. I've had mobile internet with Sprint since 2000, even before it was " broadband. " And, I use a Cradlepoint EVDO router and use the one Sprint connection with 3 computers at once to maximize my plan. So, to me it's definitely worth it.

Well, remember that the pre-paid stuff does't have a contract. No one/two year commitment.

You definitely pay for that convenience.

Not to mention it can actually be cheaper than paying a hotel for an internet connection if you happen to travel (some have the nerve to charge $10-15 per day). Plus most hotel connections suck.
