I'm getting a wireless LAN notebook and I would to know if it costs anything extra on my internet bill if so how much?

It shouldn't, the only payment you'd need to make is for the wireless router to use the wireless on your notebook.
-
Thats it, no extra cost. I heard someone say there was.

how could there be any extra cost? you're taking a connection that the internet service provider (ISP) provides and broadcasting it as a radio signal, the ISP has no way to intervene in how you use that signal within your house and they'd never find out if you're using wireless or not.

At one time, there were some ISPs that charged for using a router on thier network. Your ISP would keep a record of the MAC address for your cable/DSL modem and only that device was authorized to use the network. It didn't work too well. You could easily pick up a LinkSys router and there was a spot in the config to 'spoof' your router MAC address by filling in the one of your cable modem. I don't think there are many (if any) ISPs that still try to do that.

even if they keep a record of the mac address just about every router has the ability to clone it from your computer.
Not to mention that is stupid anyway since I can go in and change my mac address in about 10 seconds with no problems, plus any time you get a new network card it has a different address.

Well thats good, Im so glad because I can't really afford anything extra added to my internet bill. Also I was talking to Sony about this and they said it would cost extra so this brightens my day that it dosen't.
