I have Belkin Wireless N1 Annex A Modem/Router with FZ21m and my problem is i cant connect at 300 Mbps(5ghz).Any one have the same experience?

I CANNOT get my tz to connect to my linksys N router at anything above 54mb/s... i'm lost... is the sony driver able to run at full N speeds?
-
Same issue here ZK - I think if you use the intel driver this might improve - meaning the one from intel.
-
I think i did download a new one from windows update... anyone else wanna chime in who IS getting over 54mb/s

The N1 router is NOT compatible with the built-in wireless Intel 4965AGN card, nor any other built-in laptop N-cards as far as I'm aware still.
I made the same mistake and purchased an N1 modem router from Belkin also, and ended up with a call to Tech support after quite some frustration. They will not work with each other, you will only get 54g.
If you do want N speeds I suggest an N (not N1) router.
Now on a totally different matter - those who have an N router, do you notice so much improvement in distance than with your old G routers? I notice a speed improvement when being close to the router and my Wifi connection does show up to 300mbps, but I can't detect any signal further away than I could when I had my old G router (I'm sure the concrete walls have something to do with it but still...felt like a waste to me). -
I typically connect at 130 on my Dlink 655 N router, using TZ170. I experienced increase in speed but more importantly in distance and signal strength. I use to not be able to connect upstairs on my G router, and now get full strength. I also installed at Dlink wireless card in a desktop and that one connects at 300, so I don't know why the TZ only connects at 130, which is generally closer to the router than the desktop.

I had the same problem. I have three laptops all connected to my DIR 655.
They all have N capabilities and all connect at 130mbs.
The only way they connect at 300MB is by using the DLINK notebook adapter which installs an additional driver to use with the new N link adapter. Then, the computer uses the new adapter and connects at 300mb.
So, my conclusion is that the only way you get 300 is to put a DLINK adapter into the slot on the computer and install the added driver and software. -
once I switched to wpa2 protection instead of wpa, my speed went from 54mbps to 130mbps... is this the highest we can expect out of N?

Hi,
What appears to be necessary to get 300 mbps is to use a different adapter card. If using the D Link N router, such as the DIR 655, you will only get 130MBPS using the Sony card.
300MBPS is achieved with the DLINK adapter card and software/driver.
Other systems have similar proprietary cards needed to obtain the high connection speeds.
Quite honestly, I can not tell the diffence between 130 and 300MBPS in daily use as the site is slower than the router speed. -
I don't think anyone's network speed is motivated by internet experience... it's for local network tasks. 130 to 300 is a huge change, I need it for what I'm doing as it involves lots of local file access.
that said,
are there ANY routers that forum members have tested to operate at 300 with the stock TZ card?
thanks
