For some reason, my wireless signal meter is always at 60%. Does anyone know why or how I can fix this?

Oh ok. Thanks for the update. On top of that, at school, they use a 802.11 encryption where it requires me to use my school credentials to log in. It is not stable at all. It was not as bad with XP. My friend will be sitting right behind me with his HP with XP and he will be connected fine, and mine will not connect or it will connect and disconnect frequently. Quite frustrating.

Yeah Vista on my PC has similar problems I think they still need to work out some kinks with wireless. When I had XP on this same PC the connection was flawless, now it will slow down and drop randomly for a few minutes at a time.

My school's wireless uses 802.11x authentication also...I was able to get mine to work. I don't remember off the top of my head how I did it...but it was VERY similar to the way you do it in XP...the only difference is the location of the options and stuff in the GUI. Try roaming through your wireless properties...

I think it's just a minor nuisance in the fact it reports 60% strength. It doesn't seem to effect the performance or stability for me at least.

I get very fast throughput from my SZ to my desktop (wired connection) and it easily sustains 10Mbps downloads over Wifi on the SZ.

In fact in my experience, both for wired AND wireless connections Vista seems to have faster/better networking than XP.
