Hello all - first time posting in this forum.

I have been eyeing the Z series for abit and have finally decided to get my hands on one within the next 2 weeks.

I am travelling in Asia at the moment and found a Z115GG deal for c. USD$ 1500 with the following specs:

    i5-540
    4GB ram
    500GB HDD
    1600x900 res

the deal comes with a free external DVD-RW as well (since Z11 doesnt have a built-in optical drive)

The Z126GG cost about $650 more here but comes with 6GB ram and 128GB SSD.

I have never really owned a Z-series so not sure what are the differences between Z11 and Z12 - on paper they look very similar to me. Therefore not sure whether it is really worth paying that much more for the Z126GG?

Differences between z11 and z12 are minor (only the usage of different ssd drives) and some minor port layout adjustments.

The difference between those two is
    HDD - SSD
Ext. DVD drive - Build in DVD drive

So it depend if you want to pay for the SSD, which is way faster than a hdd. If you have the money pick z12, else pick z11.

I think you are using your laptop for work? Then go for the SSD! But you can also buy the cheaper one and change the HDD to a SSD. Over all you are saving 300 bucks. Now it is your decision.

Sry for my english i am from germany :(

Your English is nearly perfect. Better than most native English speakers and writers in fact.

Asia is very expensive for electronics. The US is the bargain basement. Things are much cheaper there.

In over 15 years, I've never found anything cheaper than in the states from Singapore to Ulan Bator. I don't even bother with the Buy Nows et al. I do go into the alleys. The only exception is on used equipment in Japan. That tends to be cheaper than the equivalent new equipment in the States. Or the guys in China selling old laptops by the bike load on the streets. Even the bug zapper I got was cheaper at HF in the States.

And yes, I do know how to haggle. I even have targets to shoot for since there are Asian websites which posts what the street haggled down to prices for things should be.

What would be some of these deals that a SD'r would kill for so I can be on the lookout?
