I bought a Vaio FE-21B and I see the display badly if I see the display from up and some positions from other sides.

I had a Toshiba laptop with Trubrite and I saw the display fantastic from any side but with this Sony I only see bright (from up) and a lot of shadows from sides (it dependes of the height from you look at) and I can't see anything on the screen.

Is it normal or it's a fault of my laptop?

Could it be solved by BIOS update?

Further I have another problem with it, OSD sound works bad. From high to no gain uses only a quarter of lines of OSD . Firstly I thought It was due to Windows fail, but I tried in Linux Ubuntu and I have the same problem.

    Confirmed. It's my display only.

I compared with a Vaio FE21M and its display works good from any side and the Black was real Black, not like mine that it has too much backlight

okay i found out sony has two screens in the second version X-black and X-brite you went with the cheap X-black while if you had the X-brite you would get the better quality screen.

I found in this forum that this model FE-21B (FE690 in US , I think It was this one like 21B) has a X-Black with one lamp. No obstanding, FE-21M , FE-21S and FE-11 series has X-Black with two lamps)
